About Me
Get To Know Chris
My journey in the field of psychotherapy began in 1994, but my diverse professional background includes experiences as a teacher, outward bound instructor, and climbing guide. It was my own experience with trauma that initially led me to therapy, igniting a profound realization that by delving into my own healing, I could also guide and support others on their unique paths to wellness.
More About My Life & Background
I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California Davis in 1988, and in 1998, I pursued a Master of Science in Deaf Education from the National Technical Institute for the Deaf in Rochester, New York. In 2006, I furthered my education with a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from the esteemed Pacifica Graduate Institute in California.
Specializing in trauma, grief/loss, addiction, and co-occurring disorders, my approach to therapy integrates training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Somatic Experiencing (SE). I work passionately with both individuals and couples, providing a safe space for exploration and healing. I have been a client and done my work, and both SE and EMDR have been a big part of my own journey and healing.
Outside of my professional life, I am particularly passionate about international travel, skiing, rock-climbing, fly fishing, hiking, and Buddhism. For me, connecting to nature allows me to ground and feel a connection with the world around me.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a bit about me. I look forward to the possibility of supporting you on your journey towards healing and personal growth.
